We have had the pleasure of hosting a number of top athletes at our mansion and have been surprised at the seemingly steady flow of talent who visits Emporia throughout the year. This past weekend a regional competition for the Junior Olympics was held at ESU so we experienced once again the presence of top athletic talent in our mansion. The picture below is Maggie Bookout, first place in the shot put and second in the discus throw-both qualifying her for nationals later this month. Although we had several national qualifiers stay with us, Maggie's mom had actually read our blog and shocked me with actual retention of what she read so her daughter's picture was selected for the blog over several other talented and engaging young atheltes. Please note Alfred Gufler's picture on the mantel looking over her shoulder with a distinguished look tying together over 100 years of history in one photo..........
Maggie ate at Susan's training table (actually a couple of breakfasts) and left with a container of Susan''s world famous Niki Bars along with the recipe so we are humbly taking full credit for her athletic success. Good job by all the athletes and thank you for sharing your impressive lives with us.
